निःशुल्क सायकिल वितरण योजना

इस योजना का उद्देश्य प्रारंभिक शिक्षा पूर्ण कर चुकी छात्राओं को आगे शिक्षा जारी रखने के लिये प्रोत्साहित करना है।

योजना के तहत अपने गांव से दूसरे गांव की शासकीय शाला में कक्षा नौ में प्रवेश करने वाली बालिकाओं को राज्य शासन द्वारा निःशुल्क सायकिल प्रदान की जाती है । इसका लाभ ग्रामीण क्षेत्र की अनुसूचित जाति, अनुसूचित जनजाति, अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग एवं सामान्य वर्ग की बालिकाओं को मिलता है। वर्ष 2009 से इसका विस्तार करते हुये सभी प्रवर्ग की बालिकाओं को इसका लाभ दिया जाने लगा है।

इस योजना का और विस्तार करते हुये ऐसी बालिकाओं को निःशुल्क सायकिलें दी जाने लगी है जिनके गावं में माध्यमिक शाला नहीं है और जो किसी अन्य गांव में स्थित शासकीय माध्यमिक शाला में छठीं क्लास में प्रवेश लेती है।

योजना के तहत लाभान्वत बालिकाओं की संख्या साढे सौलह लाख।

Free cycle distribution

The objective of this scheme is to motivate girls to continue education after primary level.

Under the scheme, free bicycle is given by the state government to a rural girl, who takes admission in class IX in another village. The scheme’s benefit is given to village girls belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, backward class as well as general category. Since 2009, the benefit of this scheme is being extended to girls belonging to all the sections of society.The scheme was later expanded further and now free bicycles are also being given to the girls in whose village there is no middle school and they have to take admission in class VI in the middle school of other village.

So far, 16.50 lakh bicycles have been distributed.

Before the implementation of this scheme, there were lakhs of girls, who had to abandon studies after completing primary education only because there was no middle, high or higher secondary school in their village and they did not have means to travel to other villages to pursue education. Going on foot was difficult as well as risky. The scheme has removed all these hurdles.
